Michael Mørkøv And Alex Rasmussen Win Italian Six-Day Race

Tonight, the Danish teammates of Michael Mørkøv and Alex Rasmussen succeeded in winning the six-day race in Fironzuola, Italy after a very exciting finale that almost developed into a Nation cup on the 400 meter long outdoor concrete track.

“It was a rather short final hunt over 60 laps and Guarnieri/Stam surprisingly launched an attack. The finale ended up being a nation team pursuit where the other Danish teams did a great job helping us closing the gap. Of course, it’s always cool winning races but it also serves a greater purpose, the Tour of Denmark in August where we both are in the Team Saxo Bank line-up. Basically, I’m going to be the team engine breaking the wind but I have a personal ambition to do well on the time trial which hopefully will get me closer to a position in the world cup line-up,” ended the Danish pacemaker, Michael Mørkøv.

Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv have now won seven six-day races together.
