A powerful line-up consisting of among others the future Saxo Bank-SunGard captain, Alberto Contador (Astana) and Team Saxo Bank’s Matti Breschel, Alex Rasmussen and Michael Mørkøv thundered through 41 laps on 1.6 kilometers long circuit in the streets of Herning, Denmark.

After a number of furious attempts from the field, Team Saxo Bank’s Michael Mørkøv succeeded in slipping away with Michael Rasmussen, Jakob Kollerup and Niki Østergaard on his tail. The quartet made it to the finish line and here, Michael Mørkøv demonstrated why he is one of the best track specialists in the world by outsprinting his competitors to take a wonderful victory on home ground.
