An eagle too joined the blue-fucsia Wintergarden: he’s Michele Scarponi, nicknamed the “Eagle from Filottrano”.
The likeable Italian cyclist lived, in the training camp in Darfo Boario Terme, his first experience with the team of general manager Saronni.

What were your first impressions about your new team?

“They were surely good, I immediately thought that I’ll realize great performances wearing these colours. Skill and niceness
are the main characteristics of the staff members and of my team mates”.

How do you judge your fit?
“As by programs, I didn’t yet start trainings. During the winter break I rest completely for 20 days, then I began to perform gym exercise and sometimes I swam. Oh, I was forgetting that I covered a sort of marathon in Paris”.

Could you explain better?
“I was in Paris with my wife and our dogs and I visited the whole city by foot, so I covered more than a marathon!
But I had no choice: I’m unaccustomed to use the underground, there’s no underground in Filottrano!”.

Ho do you judge the experience of cooperation with Centro Mapei?
“I think that the high professional level of the structure gives to all the riders motivating forces and a scientific basis that allow to set the training programs in a perfect way.
Yesterday I was in Castellanza and I performed two evaluational tests: considering the results, I’ll plan the beginning of the trainings”.

When will we see you again on the bike?
“Very soon, next week I’ll begin to pedal again in order to start a season that I think could be outstanding.
I want to tell you one thing: I have already used the bike during the break, making countless exercise on using the gear shifter. I don’t want to put up a poor show like the one in Giro di Lombardia”!
