Mickael Larpe Indicted In Angouleme

ANGOULEME, May 6, 2010 – The professional cyclist Mickael Larpe, of team-Roubaix Lille Metropole, has been indicted on Thursday for false prescriptions, fraud, theft and sale or use of drugs, it has been reported by judicial sources.

Mickael Larpe, 24, was arrested Tuesday morning and taken into custody along with his brother Sebastian, 28, in their home-and-Voeuil Giget (Charente), along with their father Michael who was a pro in the 80s.

Sebastian Larpe has been indicted for fraud by using false prescriptions in order to obtain the issuance of drugs and possession of drugs.

The three members of this family were placed under court supervision and prohibited from participating in competitions or events both as professional and amateur cyclists, says a press release from the prosecutor in Angouleme.

They also prohibited from engaging in activities of coaching, consulting, support, advocacy, or training with amateur and professional cyclists, it added.

Sources close to the investigation, said that of EPO, EPO derivatives and other doping substances were seized in limited quantities for use by a person.

Mickael Larpe had tested positive for EPO at Cholet-Pays de Loire race that was held on March 21.
