PARIS, 15 jan 2010 (AFP) – Munich’s six days cycling event is set to be scrapped due to the lack of crowds despite the event’s 46-year history, organizers admitted Friday.

“We could not find a way of bringing this event back on track,” said organizer Ralph Huber.

“And we could not find another agency to take on the event in 2010, so the decision is final.”

In 2009, 52,000 fans visited Munich’s indoor Olympic Stadium for the event which was 12,000 down on what was predicted and 8,500 down on the previous year.
