Leaders hold NRC advantages in Bend; Sutherland takes over second place, Abbott moves into third
Giro Donne champion Mara Abbott (Boulder, Colo./Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty12) finished on the podium four of the six days in Bend to win the Cascade Cycling Classic title. Abbott’s performance allowed her to move into third place in the women’s NRC overall standings. Leader Cath Cheatley (NZL/Colavita-Baci p-b Cooking Light) extended her advantage to 150 points over American Alison Powers (Pinecliffe, Colo./Team Vera Bradley
Foundation).
On the men’s side, Rory Sutherland (AUS/United HealthCare p-b Maxxis) leapfrogged the idle Scott Zwizanski (Mill Valley, Calif./Kelly Benefit Strategies) to take over second place in the men’s NRC overall standings. Luis Amaran (CUB/Jamis Sutter Home-Colavita) continues to lead, holding a 191-point edge over Sutherland.
