The team’s technical staff has officially announced the Team QUICK STEP formation that will participate in the next Vuelta Espana scheduled from August 28 to September 19, 2010.

The Andalusian city of Seville will be hosting the start of the race, where the team will line up a competitive formation motivated to do well after good performances in the Giro d’Italia and at the 2010 Tour de France.

Spain’s Carlos Barredo and Belgian Kevin De Weert will be on the starting line of the Vuelta after having raced in the Tour de France as major players. Also riding in their second important season tour will be Dario Cataldo and Branislau Samoilau, who were among the best at the 2010 Giro d’Italia.

In Seville, Italian Davide Malacarne will take off from the starting ramp in the team time trial after the unlucky fall that cost him in the Giro d’Italia, and he’ll be working towards redemption on the roads of Spain.

For sprints the team can count on the Belgian sprinter Wouter Weylandt, who was already able to win a stage in the 2008 Vuelta.

Weylandt will be counting on support from the solid Belgian rider Nikolas Maes in his first experience in a great tour; on expert Italian rider Matteo Tosatto and the German Andreas Stauff. Stauff will also make his debut in a three week race.

Wilfried Peeters and Rik Van Slycke will be leading the team from the team’s car.
“We’re going to try to interpret the Vuelta like we did the Giro d’Italia and the Tour, that is, getting into the breaks and trying always to be in the thick of things – says Peeters -. There are two riders on the team that are trying their first experience in a great race like Stauff and Maes but we also have several veteran athletes like Tosatto, Barredo and De Weert who’ve already proven themselves in past Vueltas. Overall it’s a balanced formation who’ll be able to play their cards right day by day.”
