Tanner Delivers For Fly V, Wins Stage 2 Tour de Beauce

Beauce, Canada – David Tanner has been in scintillating form in recent weeks and has delivered a strong win in Stage 2 of the Tour de Beauce.

Covering the 160-kilometer stage in 4 hours neat meant that the race was hard and fast from the start.

Fly V Australia were well placed throughout with Darren Rolfe in the main break of the day. The break enjoyed most of the day off the front but never gained the type of advantage that was required to fight out the finish between themselves. With 20 kilometers left to race it looked likely that the break would be caught.

Dave Tanner said, “When we were pretty sure that the break was coming back, we go set for the stage win. I had Jay Thomson to take me to the 400-meter mark where I was meant to be leading Charles Dionne out but we lost contact and when Metlushenko (Amore & Vita) went I got a great ride to the line. Since my win a couple of weeks ago in Somerville I have been feeling really good and I hope to carry this form all the way through Beauce.”

Tomorrow’s Stage 3, 155 km – 1,800meters of vertical climbing and Mountain Top finish is set to be decisive. A strong result will be important in Stage 3 for those with ambition for the overall.
