Long Day In The Saddle

Driving rain, gusty winds, water-logged roads and even a bit of sunshine. Yes, Day 3 of the BMC Racing Team training camp had a little bit of everything.

Tuesday’s five-hour training ride took the 18 riders to the coast, where the fury of late morning storms had given way to blue skies and pounding waves from the surf of the Pacific Ocean. Following a brief stop to refuel with First Endurance nutrition, the ride was back underway. “It was pretty spirited the whole time,” BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Sportif Mike Sayers said. “The guys who will be racing at the Tour of Qatar did two pretty hard efforts in the rotation.”

A Much Deserved Day Off

With two solid days of training in the books – and severe weather advisories in effect for the Santa Rosa, California area, Sayers is giving the riders Wednesday off. On the agenda is a trip to San Francisco for sightseeing that will undoubtedly include a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. The team got in the recreational mode Tuesday night with a stop at the re-known Riviera Ristorante, home to delicious Italian food and all things professional cycling.
