Veteran Markus Fothen leads German team in Polish ProTour race

Dortmund, 29. July 2010. Team MILRAM will be at the start of the Tour of Poland as of this coming Sunday (August 1-7 / UCI ProTour). The German team will be led in its neighboring land by MILRAM veteran Markus Fothen. He will be supported by a strong team, which will aim at a high overall ranking as well as stage wins from sprinter Robert Förster.
„We are going to the start very motivated. For the general classification we have Markus Fothen on the team. He should lead the team with his experience. „Robert Förster will be a factor in the sprints.“

The German ProTour team will use the Tour of Poland as the second phase of its preparations for the Vuelta a Espana. Last week the squad trained together on Mallorca. In Poland, Fothen and his teammate will get ready for the Spanish race, before making another trip to Mallorca for final preparations. Gerry van Gerwen: „Throug the cancellation of the Sachen Tour, some important racing time is missing. We want to make up for that with a combination of training camps and race days. On Mallorca the riders can accustom themelves to the high temperatures they will face at the Vuelta.“
The start of the 67th edition of the Tour of Poland will be this coming Sunday in Sochaczew. Afterwards the peloton will face seven stages and 1,256.5 kilometers to Krakow.
