On Sunday 25th of April, the last of this year’s spring classics, Liege-Bastogne-Liege is winding its 258 kilometers through an increasingly rugged landscape as the field will be approaching the finish line in Ans, Liege. “The old lady” is the oldest race on the calendar and has been run since 1892. The race is the final of the five “monuments”, Milano-Sanremo, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
With victories in Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix, Team Saxo Bank has already taken the title as this spring’s most successful team but Andy Schleck is still hungry and keen to defend his victory from last year’s edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege where he in the most beautiful way folded out his wings and went on a solo-flight and conquered the last of the spring classics and brought home the remaining monument to win for Team Saxo Bank.
Frank Schleck has showed great form this year and he is certainly a favorite for a place in the finale on Sunday’s big battle with brother and teammate, Andy Schleck against Alberto Contador and Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana), Cadel Evans (BMC), Sergio Ivanov and Alexandre Kolobnev (Katusha).
Team Saxo Bank’s line-up: Andy Schleck, Frank Schleck, Jens Voigt, Jakob Fuglsang, Laurent Didier, Nicki Sorensen, Andre Steensen and Jonas Aaen Jorgensen.
