On Wednesday AG2R saw four of their eight riders drop out of the Tour de Suisse, Lloyd Mondory, José Luis Arrieta, Sebastien Hinault and Ludovic Turpin.
Mondory and Arrieta did not start after having been victims of crashes during stage 4.
Mondory found it “very difficult to walk” after falling heavily in the final sprint crash of stage 4 in Wettingen, said the team’s sporting director, Gilles Mas.
Arrieta suffers from a “fracture to his elbow” due to a crash earlier in the stage and was removed from the race “as a precaution,” he said.
Sebastien Hinault abandoned after 60 kilometers into stage 5 because of headaches and stomach pains probably caused by food poisoning.
Ludovic Turpin abandoned 30 kilometers from the finish, likely due to his efforts in the Giro, according to his manager.
