SYDNEY, Nov 12, 2010 (AFP) – Germany’s two-time winner Andre Greipel will return to defend his title at the 2011 Tour Down Under, organizers said on
Friday.
Greipel will debut with his new Belgian team, Omega Pharma-Lotto, at the race in South Australia on January 16-23.
The Tour Down Under will be Greipel’s first race for Omega Pharma-Lotto since leaving HTC-Columbia at the end of the 2010 season.
Greipel will be joined in his new team by his former teammates, Adam Hansen and Marcel Sieberg.
Omega Pharma-Lotto’s line-up for the 2011 race will be: Andre Greipel (GER), Mario Aerts (BEL), Adam Hansen (AUS), Olivier Kaisen (BEL), Vicente Reynes (ESP), Jurgen Roelandts (BEL) and Marcel Sieberg (GER).
Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong will also compete in the Tour Down Under in what will be his final professional race outside his native
United States.
