Australia’s Simon Gerrans wins Tour of Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Aug 7, 2011 (AFP) – Australian rider Simon Gerrans of the Sky team on Sunday won the Tour of Denmark after placing 24th on the sixth and final stage, a 162-kilometre stretch from Hilleroed to Frederiksberg in the Danish capital.

Italy’s Daniele Bennati of Leopard Trek fell nine seconds behind Gerrans, who had taken the first first spot in in the overall standings Friday.

The sixth stage was won by Dutch rider Theo Bos.

time, 3.Manuel Belletti (ITA/COG) same time, 4. Gorik Gardeyn (BEL/VCD) same

1. Simon Gerrans (AUS/SKY) 19hrs 12mins 01sec, 2. Daniele Bennati (ITA/LEO)
at 9sec, 3. Michael Moerkoev (DEN/SBS) at 29sec, 4. Damien Gaudin (FRA/EUC) at
33 sec, 5. Alex Dowsett (GBR/SKY) at 41 sec.
