Five riders who helped Cadel Evans win the Tour de France are among those on the BMC Racing Team’s latest list of re-signings for 2012 and beyond, the team announced Thursday.
Played Major Roles
Brent Bookwalter (USA), Marcus Burghardt (GER), Steve Morabito (SUI), Manuel Quinziato (ITA) and Michael Schär (SUI) have each had their contracts extended, BMC Racing Team President and General Manager Jim Ochowicz said. “These riders performed brilliantly throughout the 2011 season and played a major role in Cadel’s victory at this year’s Tour de France,” Ochowicz said. “We look forward to their continued dedication and performance within the BMC Racing Team family.”
Frank, Kohler Also To Return
Swiss time trial champion Martin Kohler and Mathias Frank, bronze medalist in the same event, will also continue with the BMC Racing Team in 2012. “They have both played a key role in the team’s successes,” Ochowicz said. “As young riders, they continue to show improvement each year in their physical abilities and race experience,” Ochowicz said. No other terms of the riders’ contracts were made public. Additional announcements about rider re-signings and extensions will be forthcoming at a later time.
