Contador Shows No Mercy As He Moves Into Lead
MADRID, March 5, 2011 – Three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador took the lead in the Tour of Murcia after winning Saturday’s 183.2km second stage between Estrella de Levante and Sierra Espuna.
The Saxo Bank rider made his winning move on the final climb to cross the line five seconds clear of Russia’s Dennis Menchov and France’s Jerome Coppel.
Contador, competing after being cleared over his positive test in last year’s Tour de France by the Spanish cycling federation, wrote on his Twitter account: “This win is for the team and for all of you who were there for me. Thank you for your support.”
