PRAGUE, Sept 13, 2011 (AFP) – Roman Kreuziger will spearhead the Czech
challenge in the world road race championships in Copenhagen from next week
despite his wrist still being in plaster from a fall on the Tour de France,
national cycling chief Marian Stetina said Tuesday.
“Roman is our top cyclist thanks to his performances and experiences,” said
Stetina of the team for the September 19-25 event.
But two-time world cyclo-cross champion Zdenek Stybar, who is preparing for
the road race event at the London Olympics, will not be competing, as the
event clashes with the Cyclo-cross World Cup.
The women’s team will be led by two-time Winter Olympic speed skating
champion Martina Sablikova, who was the national road race champion in 2010
and 2011.
Men
Road race: Roman Kreuziger, Jan Barta, Petr Bencik
