Our team does not leave anything to chance. As all detail must be studied for today’s cycle racing, sports manager Marc Sergeant took today three riders to the Drag2Zero facility at the Mercedes Benz Formula One wind tunnel on 29 January 2011.
Philippe Gilbert, Jurgen Van den Broeck and Jürgen Roelandts were guests of the McLaren Technology Centre in London. Each of them has spent one and a half hour in the wind tunnel, making several tests.
Besides the equipment, much attention was given to the position on the bike, stem, saddle pen and crank being constantly modified. Our riders have made profit of the know-how of the F1 racing stable to find the best aerodynamic position.
This optimal position on the bike helps optimizing the oxygen intake, and thus the maximal power and movement, bringing hopefully some percent toward a win.
