Soler Leaves Hospital Four Months After Crash

MILAN, Oct 14, 2011 (AFP) – Colombian cyclist Juan Mauricio Soler finally
left the hospital on Friday, four months after a horror fall on the Tour of
Switzerland left him in a coma, his Movistar team announced.

Soler, who suffered a fractured skull, broken ankle and several other
injuries in the fall on June 16, will continue his rehabilitation at his
Spanish home in Pamplona.

The Colombian rider was in intensive care at the Swiss Hospital in St
Gallen in the immediate aftermath of his accident before being transferred to
the Clinica Universitaria de Navarra from where he was released on Friday.

Soler, a former winner of the Tour de France’s polka dot ‘King of the
Mountains’ jersey, has insisted he will return to action.

“I have to be patient. It would be fantastic to race again, but at the
moment I have to concentrate on my recovery,” he said.
