PARIS, July 22, 2012 (AFP) – Bradley Wiggins’ historic victory on the Tour
de France on Sunday put Britain on the race’s honour list for the first time.
A year after Australia became only the 12th nation to be represented thanks
to Cadel Evans’ victory, Britain becomes the 13th nation to appear on the list.
From 99 editions the countries to have won the race are:
36: France
18: Belgium
12: Spain
10: United States
9: Italy
5: Luxembourg
2: Netherlands, Switzerland
1: Germany, Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Britain
