The Belkin Pro Cycling Team will join forces with continental team, De Jonge Renner (DJR) in 2014. The elite/espoirs group based in Oosterhout, The Netherlands, will be the team’s official youth squad for the next season.
“De Jonge Renner is known as one of the best amateur teams of the Netherlands,” said team Belkin’s managing director Richard Plugge. “By equipping the team and passing on our knowledge we would like to highlight that.”
Several of today’s Dutch pro cyclists grew up in De Jonge Renner. The Belkin Pro Cycling Team’s very own Stef Clement and Marc Goos learned how to race with the team. Roy Curvers, Johnny Hoogerland, Kenny van Hummel, Boy van Poppel and Daan Olivier rode for the outfit during their childhood, as well.
De Jonge Renner won the overall Dutch club championship last season and triumphed in the club competition final as well. President Theo Hanegraaf is proud to work with the Belkin Pro Cycling Team and looks forward to the coming season.
“We see this as a recognition for our club’s volunteers. For all the dedication and commitment they put into the process of guiding young riders over the past years. We’re very proud of that.”
