Alejandro Valverde Claims Third Straight Tour of Andalusia



MADRID, Feb 23, 2014 (AFP) – Spaniard Alejandro Valverde became the first
man to win three consecutive Tours of Andalusia as he extended his advantage
on Sunday’s fourth and final stage.

Valverde finished 31 seconds ahead of Sky’s Australian rider Richie Porte
in second with Spaniard Luis Leon Sanchez a further two seconds back in third
for Caja Rural.

Dutch rider Moreno Hofland claimed the final stage victory on the 159.8km
ride from Ubrique to Fuengirola ahead of Germany’s Niklas Arndt and Belgian
Kenneth Van Bilsen respectively.

Tour of Andalusia, a 159.8km ride from Ubrique to Fuengirola on Sunday:
