I first started riding a bike seriously back in my second year of college, and I did not have much success. I was born with what you can call very average genetics. Back in the day there was no CAT5, only a CAT4, and that is where I have been since 1984. So I did win a race once, but not due to my cycling fitness. i just happened to be in the right place, right time. You see there was this very large crash in this crit, and it took out like 45 riders out of 50. I was in like 46th place and made a made 1/2 mile dash to win by like 1/4th of a mile since no one followed me. So you see, I am no threat to the contenders, but I am just about more passionate about cycling and racing than anyone you are likely to meet.
This blog is about the passion, the love, and the hate I have for the sport of bike racing. It is about why starting out as a college student with a cheap bike, to a 45 year old master racer with a bike that costs 5k matters. It is truth as i see it. Sometimes right, sometime wrong, but always opinionated. Love me , hate me, who cares, just read and send me your feedback. Nothing better than a good heated discussion.
